Portacone is the genuine article. Our manufacturer owns the world wide patent for collapsible cones and you are not buying a copy! Portacones are free of any hassles or legal issues associated with copyright.
DURABILITY
PortaCones are constructed from hard-wearing, water-resistant, long lasting materials. The heavy-duty nylon outer shell surrounds a high-impact PVC interior, while the specially constructed PVC base is square to prevent the cone from rolling if knocked over. The cones are lightweight enough to use with ease, yet the base is weighty enough to make it very stable.
The internal LED light is waterproof and has more than 300 hours run time powered by two AAA batteries (supplied).
The light has three phases - on, off or flashing - and is particularly effective when lighting conditions are inadequate, such as unlit roads, foggy conditions or other badly lit sites.
During daytime hours, the fluorescent orange outer shell and reflective bands ensure that the PortaCones are highly visible at all times and from all directions. Both the internal and base colours are orange to ensure device remains visible if knocked over.
All PortaCones come packaged in a zip-lock PVC case.
PORTABILITY
PortaCones are a space saving safety device. Their unique telescopic fold-away technology means that they use minimal vehicle space and can easily be stored under the seat or in the boot. With a maximum weight of 4.5kg, PortaCones will not encumber vehicle performance, yet their low centre of gravity ensures stability.
The clear PVC carry-bag makes the PortaCones easy to spot and retrieve.
VISIBILITY
PortaCones have an internal LED light which is visible from over 1000 metres.
WHY USE A SAFETY CONE?
When other driver don't see a person or vehicle on the side of the road accidents happen. Emergency services and breakdown crews always use warning lights and safety cones for this very reason, and so should you.
- Safety cone add an unusual visual element to the road-side scene which increases the probability that will pay attention and respond with caution as they approach.
- Safety cones send a strong message to approaching drivers that there is a stationary hazard up ahead - a car with its flashers on could mean anything and may not even be stationary.
- If you've broken down and are working on your car, your vehicle's flashers might warn other traffic that your car is there, but it won't indicate that you may also be alongside the vehicle. Safety cones give that message - once again a strong safety message that drivers understand.
- If your car has broken down due to an electrical problem, your flashers may not work at all.
- If your vehicle is parked close to a blind corner, you can use your safety cones to give advance warning to approaching drivers and getting them to slow down before it is too late.
Any time you're stopped in an exposed area with any degree of risk from passing vehciles, you should deploy and activate one or more safety cones, particularly at night or in bad weather, but also at any time in any conditions.
COMPLIANCE
The 900mm cones have been specifically designed to fit within the parameters of COPTTM, and comply to the following standards with respect to height, width of reflective bands, colour and weight. As such they may be used as part of a formal traffic management plan.
- AS/NZS 1906.1:1993 - Retroflective materials and devices for road traffic control purposes
- AS 1742.3:2002 - Traffic control devices under Part 3: Traffic control devices for works on roads
- RTA 3352
The 450mm, 500mm, 700mm and 750mm PortaCones conform to COPTTM Section A6.9 and may therefore be used as temporary emergency traffic hazard indicators (such as at the site of a breakdown or other emergency).
